Plastic Injection Molding Primer c/o the Engineer Guy

I love watching the engineering videos Bill Hammack produces and this one is no exception.  In this video, the Engineer Guy covers one of my favorite aspects of mechanical engineering design, Plastic Injection Molding.  While Bill doesn’t cover everything, this is a great primer for those wanting to learn more!  The follow on videos provide even more details and are suggested for any mechanical engineer (old and new) to watch.

What happens when an Engineer goes to hell?

An Engineer dies and goes to hell. He’s hot and miserable, so he decides to take action. The A/C has been busted for a long time, so he fixes it. Things cool down quickly.

The moving walkway motor jammed, so he unjams it. People can get from place to place more easily.

The TV was grainy and unclear, so he fixes the connection to the Satellite dish and now they get hundreds of high def channels.

One day, God decides to look down on Hell to see how his grand design is working out and notices that everyone is happy and enjoying umbrella drinks. He asks the Devil what’s going on?

The Devil replies, “Things are great down here since you sent us that engineer.”

“What?? An engineer? I didn’t send you one of those, that must have been a mistake. Send him back up right this minute.”

The Devil responds, “No way! We are going to keep our engineer. We like this guy.”

God demands, “If you don’t send him to me immediately, I’ll sue!”

The Devil laughs. “Where are YOU going to get a lawyer?”

Use VLC Player to delay radio input to sync with Live TV

Use VLC Player to delay radio input to sync with TV – great for college sports where the radio announcers are far better than TV hosts.

I have found a way to sync up radio with TV (assuming Radio is ahead as usual) – If this works as planned, good-bye Vern & Gary (ESPN etc) & hello Rod & Stan (at least for Auburn Football). I plan to test with the next game. So far I’m able to delay my ATI TV/FM Radio Tuner card up to 30 sec easy.

The plan: route/capture FM radio on the tuner card, use VLC to delay 5-10 sec. Then switch my monitor input to the cable TV signal & mute – result is football video with radio audio (delayed to match/sync). Goal: listen to Rod and Stan without hearing future plays & syncing the TV video signal.
